| Description: |
Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Ontario Winter Games will take place on March 4, 2010 at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst. Placed against a backdrop of Canadian Shield granite and picturesque Lake Muskoka, the Opening Ceremonies is the only event that will bring all participating athletes, event volunteers and organizers together.
The event will be memorable, exciting, motivating and inspiring. Our goal for the 2010 Ontario Winter Games is to focus on the VIP’s of the event, the competing athletes. All of the entertainment, hosts and spirit of the ceremonies is geared towards our athlete youth audience.
The evening will begin with a parade of athletes descending upon the special event field from 3 different directions. Upon arrival at the Wharf Special Event field, participants will be welcomed by a high-profile event MC. After the national anthem, the Stereos, a well established, up and coming Canadian band will perform for the athletes.
The event will be broadcast via video to Sudbury so the athletes there will be partaking in the festivities from their simulcast location. Large monitors will be fixed on both sides of the stage so athletes will see footage of the crowd, Sudbury participants and presenters.
The event will also be webcast to the 2010ontariowintergames.ca website so fans and families of the athletes will have the opportunity to watch the ceremonies as well.
After the protocol of speakers is complete, the Stereos will play another 10 minute set. The event will culminate with a spectacular display of fireworks.
TICKETS: $10.00 (mail out fee $2.65/order)
